Consistent Improvement in Pacing Strategy Uriel Valenzuela showcased a commendable performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, clocking a total time of 3:11:31 for the full 26.2 miles. Maintaining a steady pace of 7:18 min/mile, Uriel achieved notable consistency throughout the race. His strongest stretches were seen at the 1-mile, with a split pace of 6:16 min/mile, and the final 26th mile, where he accelerated to a 6:52 min/mile pace. This showcases a capability to finish strong even after an extended effort. Uriel's pacing strategy showed gradual deceleration after mile 4, where his pace slightly increased from 6:24 min/mile up to 8:17 min/mile at mile 25. However, he successfully rebounded in the last mile, indicating room for optimization in the middle segments. Comparing this to his previous race at the 2024 Mesa Marathon, where he finished in 3:43:38 with an 8:32 min/mile pace, it's clear Uriel has worked hard on his speed, finishing over 30 minutes faster this year. Excellent improvement!
