Steady Progress with a Strong Mid-Race Surge Jake, at age 13, from Mesa, showcased a consistent performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon 10K. He completed the distance in 56:06, achieving an overall elapsed pace of 9:02 min/mile among 2107 participants. Notably, his third split showed a strong mid-race effort, clocking an 8:21 min/mile pace, eventually improving his position. Despite a slower fourth mile at 11:50 min/mile, he demonstrated resilience by regaining momentum in the subsequent mile with an 8:25 min/mile pace. Jake ranked 15th in the M1-14 division and represented his team, Holy Molys, with evident dedication. His pacing strategy showed promise, particularly with faster splits in the middle sections of the race. Focusing on maintaining a steady pace in the later stages could enhance overall time and ranking. Keep building on these experiences, as consistency and pacing indicate a strong foundation for future improvements.
