Pace Mastery with a Smooth Shift in Performance Janet Wambui had an impressive run at the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. Her performance showed a well-paced strategy, completing the 13.1-mile course with a total elapsed time of 2:24:55, averaging an 11:03 min/mile pace. Janet's race strategy showed improvement after the first mile, where she started with an 11:47 min/mile pace. From mile 2 to mile 6, her pace notably quickened with the fastest split at mile 6, clocking a 10:09 min/mile. This upwards momentum allowed her to gain ground against her competitors, especially after mile 8 where she placed 157th in her division. For a more refined performance, maintaining the faster pace achieved in the middle miles will be advantageous. This could lead to better overall pacing consistency, as some later miles such as mile 11 and 12 slowed with paces of 11:29 and 12:26 min/mile respectively. Janet's participation with the AZ Run Club clearly fuels a commendable spirit and provides a solid foundation for future races.
