Steady Progress and Strong Finish Kelly Brownson, 42, from Los Alamos, NM, ran a 10K at the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Kelly's overall performance showed steady pacing with improvements, especially notable in the final miles. The race began with an initial pace of 10:20 min/mile, gradually improving to a final elapsed pace of 9:43 min/mile. A particularly impressive split was observed between miles 5 and 6, where Kelly achieved a split pace of 8:13 min/mile, marking the fastest segment of the race. Kelly finished with an elapsed time of 1:00:15, placing 310th out of 2107 male participants and 34th in the male 40-44 division. Consistency in pacing contributed to moving up in the ranks as the race progressed, especially notable from the fourth mile onward. Keep focusing on maintaining that strong finish in future races, and continue working on reducing the variation in early splits. Great effort representing East Valley Runners!
