Maintaining Consistency Despite Challenges This year's 2026 Mesa Marathon saw Karl Mueller complete the half marathon in a time of 2:56:24, holding a steady pace of 13:27 min/mile. Within the male 55-59 division, he finished 93rd out of his cohort. Although overall rankings show fluctuating positionsstarting at 960th and fluctuating to 3438thKarl consistently improved beyond midpoint, reaching a peak at the 12-mile mark. Notably, he completed 13 miles faster than his recent marathon pace with an uptick in pace during the last few miles, a testament to his endurance and effort. Analyzing his splits, Karl began with a solid pace of 10:44 min/mile but experienced a gradual deceleration, most notably between miles 4 and 6, with split times around 14:35 and 13:52, respectively. To enhance future performances, focusing on maintaining early pace consistency deeper into the race could prove beneficial. Incremental improvements in this area might help Karl regain some of his previous form exhibited in races like the 2012 Mesa Marathon.
