Steady Start, Challenging Finish Mark Carroll displayed a consistent effort during the 2026 Mesa Marathon, with an overall time of 4:50:02 at an average pace of 11:04 min/mile for 26.2 miles. His early splits showed remarkable consistency, starting with a strong pace of 8:44 min/mile and maintaining a pace under 9 minutes per mile for the first 8 miles. Notably, Mile 8 was one of his fastest, clocking an 8:57 min/mile split, resulting in an impressive 1st segment placement of 65th in his division. However, the later miles presented a decrease in pace, with Mile 21 as the slowest at 14:54 min/mile. Compared to his 2025 marathon performance where he ran with a 10:10 min/mile average, there's a notable difference in endurance.
