Consistent Early Pace, Slowed Finish Tim demonstrated a steady start at the 2026 Mesa Marathon with early splits ranging from 10:13 to 10:59 minutes per mile through the first 6 miles. His most consistent pacing occurred between miles 3 and 4, maintaining a pace of about 10:22 min/mile. Notably, he improved to a pace of 10:29 min/mile by mile 8, where he also achieved his best division placement of 50th in M55-59. In the latter stages, Tim's pace gradually decreased, with paces falling to the 12 to 16-minute range from mile 16 onward, culminating in a final average pace of 12:18 min/mile. His pace decreased most significantly between miles 19 and 25. To work on future performances, focusing on maintaining pace in the second half might be beneficial, leveraging shorter but more frequent, controlled-paced longer runs. Despite the slower finish, completing another marathon showcases resilience and experience.
