Maintained Consistent Effort with Some Challenges During the 2026 Mesa Marathon half marathon, Kurt Towne delivered a steady performance, completing the race in 2:43:55 with an average pace of 12:30 min/mile. Beginning strong, he held a consistent pace in the first half, maintaining paces between 10:20 and 10:34 min/mile up to mile 6. The shift in pace began midway, with a marked slowdown by mile 9, clocking in at 17:42 min/mile. This split affected his overall placement, particularly in the Division M19-24 as he finished 164th. Compared to last years performance, there was a slight increase in time by a minute, and his placement within the division decreased from 110th to 164th. Maintaining pace consistency was commendable early on, but for further improvement, focusing on endurance and sustaining the pace in the latter stages could enhance overall performance and division standing.
