Consistent Push with Strategic Pace Management Carla Rutherford completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon with a total elapsed time of 6:44:02, averaging a pace of 15:25 minutes per mile. Notably, she maintained a steady adjustment in her pacing, starting the race with an 11:19 min/mile split, and progressively adapting her speed, which settled into a consistent range in the latter part. Her strongest placement occurred during the 8th mile, where she ranked 20th in her F60-64 division. Encouragingly, Carla demonstrated a strong performance in her division, acquiring a division placement of 33rd out of the female participants, specifically in the F60-64 age bracket. Maintaining her focus and momentum, she varied her efforts across the marathon's various segments. To enhance her performance, future participation could incorporate targeted speedwork sessions to develop shorter interval pace consistency, particularly in the middle to latter stages of the race. Her commitment as part of the Mighty Family Marathoners team shows great potential for progressive improvements.
