Consistent Early Pacing, Challenges in Later Miles Wesley Higgins maintained a consistent pace in the early stages of the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, with initial splits ranging from 10:30 to 10:35 min/mile for the first four miles. Notably, his fastest mile was at mile 2, clocking in at a 10:30 min/mile pace. By mile 5, Wesley's pace started to decline, reaching a 12:18 min/mile at mile 6, which followed the trend of a gradual slowdown throughout the latter half of the race. Despite concluding the race with an overall time of 2:46:09 and an average pace of 12:41 min/mile, Wesley's performance was consistent with his previous results, although showing a slower pace compared to his past 10K event in 2022. For future races, focusing on maintaining energy in the latter half would benefit overall time and placement.
