Solid Start, Steady Pace: Insights from the Race Course Tatyana Orlov, representing Team Freedom, displayed a commendable consistency throughout the initial stages of the 2026 Mesa Marathon. Starting strong, she clocked a 7:33 min/mile pace for the first mile, showcasing potential and energy. Maintaining a steady sub-8:00 min/mile pace up to mile 9, she exhibited disciplined pacing strategy, which is advantageous for her division and age group, where she secured as high as 23rd place within F40-44 at mile 1. However, the latter part of the race demonstrated a gradual decline in pace, with mile 19 experiencing the highest single-split time at 13:35. Despite this, Tatyana managed to complete with an overall pace of 9:11 min/mile, finishing the marathon in 4:00:36. While her placements were competitive, particularly with an impressive climb back to 57th place in her respective division during mile 23, small pacing adjustments could further enhance her performance in future races.
