Steady Pace with Notable Mid-Race Recovery Katie Smal from Lincoln, NE, competed in the 2026 Mesa Marathon 10K, finishing with an elapsed time of 1:21:30 and an overall elapsed pace of 13:08 min/mile. Throughout the race, she showed an interesting consistency with minor variations in pace and had a strong finish. Her first mile was completed at 13:03 min/mile, and she maintained a similar pace until the last mile, where she registered her fastest pace at 12:40 min/mile. This demonstrates her ability to recover effectively mid-race and finish stronger. Analyzing Katies performance in her division (F35-39), her placement changed dynamically. She achieved her best division placement at mile 3, reaching 57th in the division, suggesting that her mid-race strategy was effective.
