Consistent Improvement with Strong Finish Shayla Wood achieved an overall time of 2:56:03 at the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, with an average pace of 13:26 min/mile. Representing the Mission Move team, she ranked 238th in the F35-39 division, out of 4125 participants. Shayla showed commendable consistency, beginning her race with a 14:07 min/mile pace and generally improving across the distance. Throughout the splits, notable improvement was evident in her performance. Her pace saw substantial progress, dropping to 13:27 min/mile by the final mile. Particularly impressive were her mile 11 and 12 splits at 11:13 and 12:14 min/mile, respectively. Shayla demonstrated capability in recovering her pace after mile 4, suggesting growth in maintaining stamina over distance. Continuing to build on this endurance and pacing will help maintain those faster splits as fatigue sets in.
