Consistent Pace with Key Placement Improvements Noted Alexander Schenk completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon in 2:57:48, maintaining an average pace of 6:47 min/mile over the 26.2-mile course. Throughout the race, his splits started strong with a pace of 6:37 min/mile for the first mile and showed notable fluctuations, including a swift 6:30 min/mile during mile 16 and a slower 7:43 min/mile in mile 25. Strategic speed adjustments were evident, particularly between miles 21 and 23, which saw improved placements, reaching 101st overall by mile 23. Alexander's overall performance demonstrated solid pacing and stamina, culminating in a 176th place finish out of 3,509 participants. Improvement in placement, particularly in the mens 30-34 age division from prior races, is commendable, achieving 48th place this time. Focusing on maintaining mid-race pace during the later stages could enhance future performances. Consistent training with an emphasis on endurance towards the races end will be beneficial moving forward.
