Consistent Early Pace, Slight Slowdown Towards Finish Paul Mullen completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon in 2:12:52, maintaining an elapsed pace of 10:08 min/mile over 13.1 miles. Starting strong, his first mile pace was 9:39 min/mile, showing consistency through mile 5 with fluctuations between 9:45 and 9:58 min/mile. However, a more noticeable decrease occurred from mile 7 onwards, where paces slowed to above 10 minutes per mile, reaching a peak of 10:44 min/mile in mile 13.1. Compared to his previous half marathon in 2025, with a time of 2:05:57 and a 9:36 min/mile pace, there was a slight decrease in pace. To enhance future performance, consistency in pacing throughout the later stages of the race could be beneficial. Participation-wise, Paul ranked higher in his age division M50-54 than in previous races, suggesting an improvement in race strategy or competition level. Continuing to train with Verrado EMR run club can further drive progress.
