Consistent Improvement in Later Splits Madison Romney completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon 10K with an overall time of 1:27:55 and an average pace of 14:10 min/mile. Throughout the race, Madison's pacing showed improvement. The first mile was completed at a pace of 17:39 min/mile, but by the final mile, she improved to 13:27 min/mile. A notable aspect of her performance was her resilient speeding up in mile 6, where her split pace was 13:27 min/mile, showing endurance and consistency in the latter half of the race. Madison ranked 37th in her division with a total of 2851 participants. An encouraging sign for future races would be to target consistent pacing across all splits to maintain the lower paces seen in later miles. Madison's improvement in pace between mile 1 and mile 6 suggests she has a strong ability to adapt and push through challenging sections, which is a great asset in racing.
