Consistent Start, Opportunities in Later Miles In the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, Preston Friarson demonstrated consistency in the initial stages, starting with a solid 9:42 mile pace for the first mile. His performance during the initial 3 miles showed a gradual increase in split times, maintaining under a 10-minute pace, which is commendable. Preston's placement in Division M25-29 began at 136 out of 258 but saw changes as the race progressed. By mile 4, there was a notable shift, with split times increasing to over 15-minute miles, highlighting a shift in pace. The slower split times in the latter miles, such as 18:53 at mile 10, suggest an area to focus on further development. Preston finished with an overall time of 3:05:09 at a 14:08 per mile pace. Staying consistent in the later miles would likely lead to an improvement in placement, both overall and within his division.
