Consistent Start, Strategic Mid-Race Surge, Endurance Decline Don Gramer demonstrated a solid start in the 2026 Mesa Marathon, maintaining a sub-7-minute pace through the first 8 miles. His best mile split was recorded at 6:34 during mile 7, reflecting a strategic mid-race push. At mile 8, Don had an impressive breakthrough moment, achieving 5th place in his division (M50-54), with an elapsed pace of 6:49 per mile. The latter half of the race saw a gradual pace decline. Beginning at mile 19, Dons pace began to slow significantly, peaking at 9:56 for mile 19. Despite this, he finished with an overall time of 3:15:14, thoroughly respectable for the distance. While his ending division placement was 18th, the early segments revealed potential for sustained speed. Focusing on maintaining momentum during the final miles could enhance future performances. Great job representing Foothills Running Club and completing such a demanding race distance!
