Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Liz Cheli from Carlsbad, NM delivered a commendable performance in the 2026 Mesa Marathon, finishing the half-marathon in 1:37:20. With an average pace of 7:25 min/mile, Liz maintained consistent splits throughout most of the race. Notably, she demonstrated impressive initial speed with the first mile clocking in at 7:06 min/mile. Although there was a brief slowdown at mile 6 with a split of 8:51, she quickly regained her rhythm and pushed through the latter part of the race effectively. Liz achieved notable positions, finishing 162nd out of all female participants and 43rd in her division F25-29. It's clear that her strategy to start strong with a solid pace paid off, especially in the final stretch where her last mile saw an impressive improvement at 7:10 min/mile. Working on maintaining speed in the middle miles might further enhance her performance for future races. Overall, a well-executed run by Liz.
