Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Lillian Koch completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon with an overall elapsed time of 2:08:33, maintaining an average pace of 9:48 minutes per mile. Throughout the race, Lillian kept a very consistent pacing strategy, especially noteworthy in the first five miles, with pace slightly improving from 9:49 to 9:31 minutes per mile by mile six. Her position improved in these early stages, reaching her best placement within the first half of the race. In the final stretch of the race, although pacing increased slightly to over 10 minutes per mile between miles nine and twelve, Lillian demonstrated resilience. She closed the final mile with a 9:47 minute pace, contributing to a strong overall finish. Lillian's performance was consistent across all splits, with her strongest division placement at mile eight. For future races, a continued focus on sustained pace through the latter miles could enhance overall race efficiency even further.
