Consistent Pacing with Late Surge Raju Pulamala demonstrated a steady and improving performance throughout the 2026 Mesa Marathon, particularly in the latter stages. Starting with an opening mile pace of 16:36 min/mile, he progressively increased his speed, culminating in a strong final split pace of 13:51 min/mile for mile 13. His average pace for the entire event was 15:20 min/mile, which placed him 126th in his division for M50-54. Notably, Raju's pace consistently improved from mile 4 onwards, with his fastest mile occurring at mile 13. This indicates a well-planned strategy to conserve energy for a strong finish. In future events, focusing on early mile pacing could yield even better results. His current approach effectively captures opportunities for improvement over the course, particularly in maintaining consistency.
