Consistent Performance with Slight Slowdown Preston Cannady demonstrated a steady performance at the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. With strong initial splits, maintaining an 8:47 min/mile pace for the first two miles, consistency was a key aspect of his race strategy. From miles three to five, his pace ranged from 8:50 to 8:59 min/mile, showing only a slight decrease in speed. Notably, split eight had a burst of energy, placing him 66th in his division, reflecting strong pacing management. Later stages of the race displayed a minor decline in pace, with his final two splits at 9:07 and 9:19 min/mile, respectively, culminating in an overall time of 1:59:53 with a 9:09 min/mile average pace. Despite this, Cannady managed to place respectably in a competitive field of 4,125 participants. For future races, maintaining the early consistency through the latter miles could result in even stronger finishing times. Well done, Preston, on a solid run!
