Steady Improvement and Strong Finish Silvie Schmelter showed significant progress in her performance at the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. Her overall time was 2:04:06, improving markedly from her previous time of 2:20:38 in 2022. She maintained a steady pace, averaging 9:28 min/mile, notably faster than her previous pace of 10:44 min/mile. This improvement contributed to her impressive completion among 4,125 participants. Silvie's consistent pacing from the start, hitting strong splits of 8:51 min/mile at Mile 1 and a remarkable finish with 8:50 min/mile at Mile 13, indicates solid effort and finishing strength. Although there was some fluctuation in pace between miles, with Mile 4 being a bit slower at 10:25 min/mile, she quickly regained her momentum. Encouragingly, her splits during the middle segments can be a focus for continued work on maintaining pace evenly across the race, aiming for more consistency. Great job on building stamina and speed!
