Consistency with Opportunities for Speed Adjustment Melissa maintained a consistent pace throughout the 2026 Mesa Marathon, completing the half-marathon in 2:28:23. Her average pace was 11:19 min/mile, with fluctuations observed as she progressed through the course. Notably, she showed her strongest split at mile 5, with a pace of 10:39 min/mile. However, the pace slowed between miles 10 to 12, reflecting room to explore strategies for maintaining speed in later miles. Melissa's overall placement was 2793 out of 4125 participants. In terms of her gender and age division (F40-44), she placed 1383 and 168 respectively. Despite placing lower in some splits, her final mile was a slight improvement over the previous ones, suggesting the potential benefit of pacing adjustments for the closing stages in future races.
