Strong Finish with Improved Speed Scott Galliart, of the Surprise Run Club, delivered a compelling performance at the 2026 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, with a final chip time of 1:47:22 and an impressive average pace of 8:11 min/mile over 13.1 miles. His results show a steady performance with a notable finishing kick. Particularly, his last three miles were marked by significant improvements: mile 11 had a pace of 7:18 min/mile, mile 12 was completed in 7:53 min/mile, and mile 13 excelled at 7:27 min/mile. Scotts performance saw him finishing 794th out of 4125 participants overall, and 94th in the Male 30-34 age division. He consistently maintained his strategy with some fluctuations in placement, providing an opportunity to revisit pacing strategy during middle miles to maintain closeness to earlier splits. His concluding miles indicate Scotts capacity to harness late-race energy surges, suggesting potential for an even stronger finish in future races.
