Steady Pace with Strong Finish in the Second Half Magda Jimenez completed the 2026 Mesa Marathon with an overall time of 5:05:54, maintaining an average pace of 11:40 min/mile. Throughout the race, Magda consistently displayed steady pacing, especially in the early miles. Notably, her first half showed progressive improvement, with a strategic acceleration from a 10:46 min/mile in the first mile to maintaining a sub 10:30 min/mile pace by the midway point, reaching her fastest split of 9:53 min/mile at the 8th mile. In the second half, while there was a decelerating trend seen in a few splits, with the course completing adjustment towards some slower segments like mile 21's 17:14 min/mile, Magda managed impressive moments of resilience. For example, her placement in the female 40-44 division improved markedly in the latter stages, from 144th place at mile 1 to 52nd at mile 12. Continued endurance and incorporating interval training might help trim the time in those challenging later miles. Well done on the perseverance, Magda!
