Consistent Start, Slower Finish in Half Marathon Sumanta Das achieved a final time of 2:47:32 in the 2026 Mesa Marathon half marathon, completing the 13.1-mile course with an average pace of 12:47 min/mile. Early in the race, Sumanta maintained a steady pace with the first mile split at 10:11 min/mile, gradually slowing to a pace of 16:46 min/mile by mile 11. His initial splits reflected strong control with sub-12:00 min/mile paces through mile 3, but the overall pace started to increase after mile 4. Notably, Sumanta's standing in the M45-49 division fluctuated, starting strong with a 10th place in the division for initial splits, closing at 148th in the division. Comparing this to his 2025 Mesa Marathon 10K performance, where he maintained an average pace of 11:28 min/mile, it may be beneficial to focus on endurance to sustain a more consistent pace throughout longer distances.
