Consistent Start, Steady Finish with Opportunities for Improvement Chris Martinez began the 2026 Mesa Marathon half marathon at a consistent pace, maintaining close to 9:15 min/mile for the initial miles. The early splits were steady, with his first 3 miles ranging from 9:15 to 9:24 min/mile. This steady pacing allowed Chris to establish a good rhythm, positioning him within the top 1,000 male runners by the third mile, aligned with ranks of 990 and 792 in the M30-34 age division. As the race progressed, Chris experienced some slowdowns, with his pace reaching 15:46 min/mile by mile 11. Finishing with an overall time of 2:41:22, they placed 3167th out of 4125 participants. Noteworthy is the ability to sustain effort despite the drop in pace, completing the race with an average pace of 12:19 min/mile.
