Impressive Early Splits, Steady Marathon Completion Calix Flores started the 2026 Mesa Marathon with an impressive performance, clocking an initial mile at 5:34 and maintaining a strong pace through the first half of the race. In particular, the 7th mile was his fastest with a split of 5:29. Notably, between miles 3 and 4, he held an impressive position, ranking 2nd in his division. As the marathon progressed, Calix kept a consistent pace, with his overall marathon pace averaging at 5:59 min/mile. Although the latter stages of the race saw a slight decrease in tempo with splits around 6:37 - 6:49 in miles 20 through 23, he maintained a commendable effort, finishing in 20th place overall out of 3,509 participants. While his starting splits showed considerable speed, focusing on maintaining that pace through the later miles could enhance his marathon performance further in the future.
